The Grant Accounting Offices recognizes that because award negotiation may result in considerable delays in getting your project's account established, there may be times when a need for an advanced account, or "Advanced MFK", is essential.  In times when it is certain the award will be funded and that the agency will permit advanced spending, you are encouraged to request an Advanced Account to ensure that expenditures are tracked properly, as well as to prevent the accumulation of charges in "holding" accounts while awaiting official award authorization. 

Advanced account requests are to be submitted through the Division of Sponsored Program's UIRIS application. The Grant Accounting Office requests that although attaching a budget is not mandatory, it is greatly appreciated.
