Research Activity Ramp-Down Necessitated by COVID-19

A notice from the Vice President for Research on ramping down research activities:

The rapid evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic has required the University of Iowa to accelerate its response to this unprecedented challenge. Earlier today, the university issued a statement further restricting campus building access and activities.

With that in mind, and to protect the health and safety of our community, PIs must immediately prepare for all on-campus research to be ramped down to the greatest extent possible by close of business on Thursday, March 19, 2020. In effect, the research enterprise must shift to a state of hibernation and significantly minimize the presence of research personnel on campus.

For additional guidance, including a list of action items, how to handle salaries being charged to grants, remote access, and more, please see the full notice from J. Martin Scholtz here.

If you have any questions about the notice, feel free to contact OVPR at 319-335-2453. For questions specific to your college,  please get in touch with your associate dean for research.
