- Automatic 90-day pre-award
- Equipment ($5,000 or more) titled to grantee
- PI effort: 25% reduction requires notification and approval from NSF

- 2/9 Rule:
- Per the NSF two-ninths rule, a person considered to be Senior Personnel (i.e. “essential”) cannot be paid more than 2/9 of their salary, whether it be summer or academically paid, over any given 12 month time period. Example: A PI with a salary of $100,000 and a 9-month appointment cannot be paid more than [($100,000/9) x 2], or no more than $22,222, over any given 12 month period.
